Gledhill Torrent Solar Thermo Store

The Torrent 'RE' Solar is an open vented system and is therefore inherently safe. It is not subject to Building Regulations G3. It does not require an annual service. This system is particularly popular because of its suitability as a neutralising source for multiple energy integration including, range boilers, wood burning or pellet stoves, conventional boilers, geothermal and solar. Solar can contribute to domestic hot water and central heating through this system. You can phase the installation of the different types of energy integration you are considering.

If you have several energy sources connected to the store the large volume of primary water is heated up while for example, the sun is producing thermal gain during the day, or your wood burning stove is slowly contributing energy at a low setting, this energy at a later date can be used for domestic hot water or space heating. Your domestic hot water is heated indirectly through a large heat exchanger positioned at the top of the cylinder giving you the benefits of mains pressure hot water.


Grant UK's unique new ThermaWave Store allows multipleheat sources to be connected in a number of different ways, with the back-up feature of two 3kW immersion elements. This unit makes it possible to now have a gas or oil fired boiler connected to an Aga or solid fuel appliance and also a renewable heat source such as solar thermal or a heat pump. Furthermore, underfloor heating system manifolds as well as radiator circuits can also be directly connected to the store.

Models are available in three sizes - 250 litres, 300 litres and 400 litres, in an open-vented configuration. A separate hot water kit is also available for those situations where a nominal domestic hot water supply is required. Where there is a greater demand for domestic hot water, the store should be linked with Grant's MonoWave or DuoWave cylinders.

Exciting features - Unique design slows inlet water velocities ensuring multi-level temperature distribution. High specification 1mm thick duplex stainless steel is utilised which resists all forms of corrosion; compression fittings on all connections (except 28mm) dramatically reduce installation time, 40mm injected polyurethane foam insulation gives an exceptionally low standing heat loss, making the stores highly efficient and a 25-year shell guarantee* which endorses the durability of the product.
